Currently Android is an operating system widely used by various smartphones. Android is the operating system for mobile devices based on Linux. First developed by Android Inc. that later was taken over by Google. In 2007 Google and 33 other companies announced the formation of the Open Handset Alliance. The goal is to develop open standards for mobile devices and to encourage innovation on mobile devices and deliver the services for consumers who are much better than what is already available on today's mobile platforms.
